The Long Beach Auditorium, Live From the Past piece, presents an important part of the History of Long Beach. The mosaic mural situated at the Harvey Milk Promenade Park was once the centerpiece of the Municipal Auditorium and an important part of the cultural life in the city. This building was created in 1932 replacing the first one created in 1905 at Seaside Way, along the east side of the pier. Nowadays, the Rainbow Lagoon Park area. Until its demolition in 1975, through the Auditorium passed some of the most popular artists of the moment like Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, or Elvis Presley. In our daily routines, we come across pieces of history every day without realizing them. There are always there and we don’t even notice them. With this AR experience, we bring to life the story that sleeps behind this beautiful mosaic. The reconstruction of the disappeared auditorium brings the past to our present to tell us its story bout the cultural past of the city keeping it alive through it. AR technology brings the past to our fingertips and allows us to virtually touch it and manipulate it to have a better understanding of it, ensuring the future of its memory.
